Why did you choose a PVP server?
Why did you choose a PVP server?
Taken From SWTOR FAQ
Player-vsPlayer (PvP)
On these servers, players from the opposing faction can attack you at almost any time and almost any place.

PvP (Player vrs Player)
On this type of server players are concerned with the standard fare like questing and etc, but the player that chooses this type of server desires more of a confrontational or competitive type of experience. PVP ability on this type of server is always on and is not able to be toggled off. This is the server type where the valor statistic is going to be key.
Unless you are in a area that has been designed as a safe spot where you cannot be attacked, like a origin world, your factions fleet, or your capital world, then you are fair game for whatever and whoever desires your characters demise.
So if in your normal preferred play style you crave the excitement that can come from a surprise attack out of nowhere, or you like to play the role of the hunter looking for the thrill of the chase, then this server is the best choice for you.
*Just as a side note about this type of server, you can defeat other players in the open world but in this game there is no looting of defeated players corpses by other players and each class has a self resurrection option that when chosen to res at this location gives you a ten second window to allow you to escape the area while cloaked and hidden from sight until the timer wears off.
With that sort of mechanics in place you should be able to avoid being ****** over and over again ( a scenario commonly referred to as T-Bagging ) and be able to escape the scene or at least get enough of a head start that if fleeing is your choice then you should be able to do it.
What is the reason we have PVP progression?

PvP Commendations: Earn medals during a Warzone and receive Commendations for your service. These tokens can be traded in for specialty PvP goods.
PvP Valor: Some PvP items require you to be of a certain Valor Rank in order to equip them. Gaining Valor points results in earning a higher Valor Rank. Earn Valor through participating in PvP.
Some questions to ask yourself.
What are specialty PvP goods?
Why do I need them?
How important is Valor?
Why did the Devs make some maps with none or limited access to opposing faction sides?
When you answer these questions you cant help to think that PVP was an afterthought.
Before this game was released I thought the devs, some having worked on WH, would implement some sort of map that would have factions fighting to control areas. (DID NOT HAPPEN)
Another issue I could not understand why Bolster gave a level 39 player Expertise higher than my complete Battlemaster gear as a level 55.
They also gimping my other PVP gear and removed any expertise from it.
Ask yourself why would the devs allow PVE people to boost the PVE gear to give them Expertise?
Maybe it was a way to include them in WZs because the WZ pops were taking long?
Maybe it was because they want PVE people to try out PVP WZ and fight open world without getting destroyed on a PVP server?
Maybe it was because PVE people wanted to play WZs without grinding out another set of gear?
Maybe well you get the point!
My biggest issue with Bolster, is that if I have PVP gear and play WZs and another player plays PVP and PVE and has a nicer set of PVE gear with bolster. They may have an advantage over myself or others if they are skilled in WZs and Open world PVP and that should not be the case if we have a PVP progression in place.
So back to my question if we choose to play on a PVP server then deal with the fact you need PVP gear to play at the same level as any other player in a WZ or open world once they are flagged as PVP that has a high level of expertise but do not give the PVE gear the same stats. If the bolster system stays in place, then I guess all our PVP people will start to gear grind flashpoints and forget about grinding out PVP gear all together or just maybe Min Max PVP/PVE gear to get the most Expertise.
A PVP server should just be that!
Player VS Player with PVE content included.
How will Player VS player ever grow if it is what some people call a MINI GAME!
So now ask yourself why did you choose a PVP Server?
